Printing technique:Printing is a technique that allows different people to own the same work of art, having all the art examples exactly the same quality. To obtain the edition of a work by means of printing technique it is necessary to print a drawing over a flat surface called plate. The final result is seen upside down. A printing plate can be made from different materials; stone, wood, linoleum or metal and each of them will give a different result. In case we want to obtain more than one colour a particular plate is used for each colour. In order to print the work carried out on the plate, printing paper is placed onto the printing press, the ink colour is chosen, the plate is inked and placed over the paper, roller is passed over the plate making a strong pressure and producing the artist´s work on the paper.
Several trials are made by changing the plate or the colour until a required result is obtained. After that the edition is carried out by printing a particular number of examples. In small editions each example is more valuable than in a bigger edition.
When they are all done, they are numbered correlatively and a note is printed saying how mYear copies in the print run (for example, 1/30, 2/30), and they are signed. The same plate can never be reproduced again. |
